WTF is up with this, Scholastic Books?!? My kid's elementary school is having a book fair in a couple weeks and this title is included in the offerings.

Models Don't Eat Chocolate Cookies
by Erin Dionne

" Celeste is no string bean, but comfy sweats and a daily cookie suit her just fine. To avoid participating in the Miss HuskyPeach Modeling Challenge, Celeste decides to become too slim to qualify. Find out if her plan works! "

I don't even know where to go with this. The school, Scholastic Books? What ever happened to The Babysitter's Club? I've never been a fan of censorship, but I kind of want to organize a good old fashioned book burning.

Well, the ad makes it sound awful, so I looked at Amazon to see what the reviews say.  You might want to glance through it before getting mad, as the customers are saying things like this:
Quote
I have had to wear enough Peach Monstrosities in my life to completely relate to this wonderful, touching book about self-acceptance.
Perhaps it's not so bad?

Oh good! Scholastic truncated the synopsis, it sounded like a horrid book written touting body insecurity. The Amazon description is a little better, and the comments make it sound more Judy Blume-esque.

I understand why you are so annoyed, of course as mothers we do not want to promote wrong impression to our kids. Nevertheless, I saw the book and it is not that bad at all, the title is just implying the wrong impression but the story is worth reading and there are lessons to be learned. I hope your child won't stop eating your yummy cookies. Wedding Fortune Cookies
