I saw my doctor recently. I don't know if anyone remembers my post in the fat acceptance thread, but the gist of it was that I am fat and perfectly happy with myself. I don't want to lose weight. But now my blood pressure is too high, and my doctor wants me to lose about 30 pounds. I don't want to lose weight, but I don't want heart disease either. I am cranky today.

I am in a long-distance relationship that, before it was long-distance, we saw each other every single day. It has been long distance since September, and I thought it would get easier as time went on, but the truth is that it's getting harder. I'm not sure how much longer I can go... Thankfully, I'll be with him during the summer, but there is a good chance that this will continue for three more years... It is so hard. I AM GOING CRAZY. So ronery. Not so much a bitch. More of a whine.

The bugger of that is that there is no guarantee losing weight will work.

Hopefully salt reduction will lower my blood pressure enough. I wish to register a complaint about the constant flood of dumb spammers posting nonsense on this otherwise excellent forum.
They are irritating, aren't they? I've certainly learned not to click on new threads without reading the title and author's name first.

Why, when I am representing a man in Family Court, do a large percentage of the women in the waiting room feel they have to give me the hairy eyeball?
Maybe their man abuses them or doesn't pay his maintenance, but that doesn't mean that my client is guilty of either of those. And it also doesn't mean that he is not entitled to representation.
Gah. Anyway, my clients today were a man and his wife who are being harassed (in Family Court, and other places) by an ex-girlfriend of his from a VERY short-lived relationship. They are getting the worse end of the deal because she keeps laying spurious charges and they have to keep on defending them. (I might have mentioned this case before, it just WILL NOT go away.)

My power supply in my newly built computer died today. I am in the process of buying a new one that won't be shitty, but the worst part is the waiting. I'm not sure if it took anything else with it when it went, and I'd be pretty peeved if I had to buy a new hard drive in addition and go back to backups from five months ago.

My built-in wifi doohickey has apparently bit the dust. Since I've not had a wifi doohickey in my compys before, I have no idea if that is even fixable or worth it, as I only use wifi maybe 5 times a year. Bah humbug.

I've been dealing with some particularly annoying gastrointestinal issues lately. Pain, nausea, heartburn, and other TMI sorts of problems. My mom suggested it might be gallbladder problems, she had these same issues when she was about my age and my grandmother never did have her gallbladder removed. My doctor is pretty awesome, so they sent me off for an abdominal ultrasound last week. The ultrasound hurt like a mofo in spots, but it came back normal (no gallstones). So now they have scheduled me for a HIDA Scan for Thursday. I'm sick and tired of being in pain, popping Tums like candy, and so forth. I am crossing my fingers and hoping that the HIDA is abnormal so that I can have my gallbladder removed and feel good again. I still need to find another job, but until I figure out what is causing this abdominal pain I don't want to hunt. I would hate to start a new job only to have to call in sick/leave early because of the pain and/or take a leave of absence right away for surgery. ARGH.

I would like my fellow americanistanians to read up on the difference between socialism and national socialism as they are proving Uncle Karl absolutely right about "the second time as farce" thing. Only like we're way beyond the second time now, ppl.
Also why do we insist on pledging allegiance to the golden calf flag first and to the republic for which it stands second? In fact, why is (to use Barry Crimmins' phrase) a rote memorization loyalty oath the litmus test for patriotism, and why is that even necessary for a public discussion on the health care reform we can pretty much all agree we need.
Or should I just wave the flag at my Dad's phone book sized medical records, intone the pledge in the general direction of the Veterans' Administration, and it will magically all go away praise jeebus?
